World War I Centenary Commemoration

To commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, the stories of some of the 245 Caians who died in the Great War are displayed on our website, in the Chapel, and on the notice boards under the Gate of Virtue in Old Courts. They give a powerful reminder of the fluctuations of the war itself; as well as helping to recall, and honour, their sacrifice.

The project is the result of the patient researches of the late Mrs Diana Summers, to whom we are much indebted, as well as our Archivists and Chapel staff.

Remembrance Day Service

There will be a Service and Act of Remembrance this Sunday, 11th November, in the Chapel at 10:30am. We shall remember the 344 students and staff who died in both the World Wars, and commend in our prayers those fighting in our Armed Services at this time, as we also pray for peace.

As this is a formal service, gowns are appropriate.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and to come to brunch in Hall after the service.

As usual, there will be a Choral Evensong at 6pm in the Chapel. The Preacher at Evensong will be Dr John Casey, his Sermon is entitled Patriotism.
