Subject Taster Evenings

Students in a supervision

Each spring, we run a programme of virtual Subject Taster Evenings for year 12, S5, or equivalent students at UK state (non-fee-charging) schools and colleges. They feature the chance to meet our Directors of Studies, hear from our students, and experience a taste of Cambridge-style teaching.

2026 dates

We encourage prospective applicants to sign up for as many subjects as they like! Attending more than one subject evening can help inform your eventual subject choice. If you're unfamiliar with any of the subjects listed below or would like to learn more about them, you can read their subject profile.

Date Subjects
Monday 11th May 2026 Archaeology Human, Social & Political Sciences Environment, Law & Economics Biological Natural Sciences Linguistics
Tuesday 12th May 2026 Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology Asian & Middle Eastern Studies Psychological & Behavioural Sciences English Modern & Medieval Languages
Wednesday 13th May 2026 Music Medicine History Maths Philosophy
Thursday 14th May 2026 Geography Education Theology, Religion & Philosophy of Religion Economics Engineering  Anglo Saxon, Norse & Celtic
Friday 15th May 2026 Law Classics Architecture & Design Physical Natural Sciences History of Art

Each subject listed in a cell has its own Taster Evening - i.e. on Monday 11th May, for example, there will be five Taster Evenings running concurrently: Archaeology, HSPS, ELE, Biological Natural Sciences, and Linguistics. Unfortunately, it is not possible to attend more than one Taster Evening on the same day, so we have tried to avoid clashes in similar subjects.

If you are interested in a joint honours course like History & Politics or History & Modern Languages, we suggest you sign up for Taster Evenings for both subjects.

Details

Each Subject Taster Evening will run from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, and will involve:

  • A talk from a Director of Studies/academic in the subject about the course at Cambridge and Caius, and the chance to ask questions;
  • A taster lecture or interactive session from a Cambridge academic;
  • A question-and-answer session with current Caius students.

Sign ups are now open and will close at 23:59 on Thursday 7th May. Please sign up here.
