LGBT+ at Caius

Caius is a welcoming and accepting college for LGBT+ people, notably being among the small number of the oldest colleges in Cambridge to fly the rainbow flag in February 2016 to celebrate LGBT+ Pride Month.

The LGBT+ community at Caius, while generally fairly quiet, is quite active and is becoming more visible. The Students' Union has an elected LGBT+ Representative, who is responsible for organising activities and events for the college’s LGBT+ community, liaising with the larger CUSU LGBT+ campaign, providing welfare support (particularly to those struggling with questions of gender and sexual identity) and advocating for LGBT+-inclusive college policy. Events include a welcome party for LGBT+ freshers, regular film nights, drinks evenings (usually held on Tuesdays in the college bar), among other events organised by the wider University LGBT+ Society. Events at Caius are often collaborative between the MCR and the JCR in order to pool resources.
