Choral and Organ Awards
Gonville & Caius College Choir is a mixed choir of 24 singers - including undergraduates and postgraduates from Caius and other colleges. It is one of the UK’s leading collegiate choirs, with an international reputation for performances of exceptional quality but also for innovative and adventurous recordings. In addition to singing three services per week in the college chapel during term time, broadcasts and tours feature regularly in the choir schedule.
Caius undergraduates in the choir hold a choral scholarship. This is an official appointment made by the College, and brings with it a small financial award. In addition, all choir members receive free singing lessons.
To apply for a scholarship, you must first apply to study at Caius (in whatever subject you choose – it doesn’t have to be music) and be offered an academic place. You then need to apply for a choral award by 15 February via the University website.
Caius also has two organ scholars at any one time, who play a vital role both in accompanying the choir and in solo work. As with Choral Awards, Organ Awards can only be held in conjunction with an academic place at the College. If you are interested in finding out more about applying for an Organ Award more details are available on the University website.
More information can also be found on the choir website and in our choir brochure.
