The Caius Outreach Team is proud to run a series of schemes, programmes, and events for prospective students.

Cambridge Higher Aspirations Scheme - now open for select subjects

We have had some extra vacancies in select subjects that have not been filled by our link areas, so we are excited to open CHAS to year 12 students at state schools across the UK. Places are available in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, Archaeology, Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic, Classics, Education, Linguistics, French, German, Spanish, Music, and Physics. The Cambridge Higher Aspirations Scheme (CHAS) is open to students in year 12 who attend a state school or college in one of our link areas. It is a sustained scheme that offers academic support and enrichment, giving you the opportunity to take part in a series of six academic supervisions, summer application sessions, and a selective residential in the Easter holidays. Caius 12 - now open

Caius 12 is a sustained programme open to students in year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. It features four informative and interactive sessions that aim to inspire you to consider competitive universities and help you with planning the application process. Caius Explore

Caius Explore is a scheme open for entries from student who attend a state school or college in the UK. It is designed for students in year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI. We challenge you to attempt the subject explorations designed by our academics! You might write a response to a poem, design a new product, grapple with the problems of climate change, or think about how AI might change how we study maths. We invite the authors of our favourite entries to a special event at Caius during the summer. In 2024, new explorations launched on 18 March 2024 and entries closed on 26 July 2024. Year 12/13 Reading Groups

Our online summer reading groups are open to students who have just finished year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. Each week, postgraduate students from the University of Cambridge guide attendees through reading and extension exercises, giving you a jump-start to deepen your subject knowledge and inspire further exploration. There's also the opportunity to ask the Admissions Tutor any questions you have about applying to university. In 2024, signups opened on 21 June 2024 and closed on 12 July 2024. The sessions took place between 31 July 2024 and 19 August 2024. You can read more here.

Subject Taster Evenings

Our Subject Taster Evenings are open to year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. They offer the opportunity to hear from an academic about the course at Cambridge, experience a taste of Cambridge teaching, and ask questions to both an academic and current students in the subject. We encourage students to sign up to as many as they like. In 2024, these ran from 17th April to 9th May 2024. You can read more here.

Eleven-Up

Eleven-Up is a sustained programme open to students in year 11 / S4 / year 12 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. It features five informative and interactive sessions that aim to help you with subject exploration and inspire you to consider competitive universities. In 2024, it took place between January and March, with applications opening in October 2023. You can read more here.

Caius 9&10

Caius 9&10 is a sustained programme open to students in year 9 and 10 who attend a state school or college in one of our link areas. It features five informative and interactive sessions that aim to introduce you to subject exploration and expose you to a taste of university teaching.
