Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah has been awarded an honorary Knighthood by His Majesty King Charles III for services to higher education, the National Health Service and philanthropy.

Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah is a member of the John Caius Guild and was elected Gonville Fellow Benefactor in 2014 in recognition of his generosity to Gonville & Caius College. He is the Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group, a Malaysian conglomerate company that develops and operates property, tourism and education businesses.

The award by His Majesty King Charles III of the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is also for Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah’s role in strengthening British-Malaysian relations. 

“I am deeply overwhelmed and greatly humbled by the award of the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire conferred on me by His Majesty King Charles III,” Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah said in a statement from the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur published on theedgemalaysia.com 

“It is particularly welcomed as the honour is bestowed in recognition of services to higher education, health services and philanthropy — exactly the sectors in which Sunway Group and Jeffrey Cheah Foundation are making a difference in the world. I consider this honour not just a personal one, but an award that recognises the efforts of everyone affiliated with Sunway Group and Jeffrey Cheah Foundation in positively impacting society and our beloved country.”

Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah is founder and trustee of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, which has disbursed over £115million (RM670m) in scholarships to qualified students in need.
