Domestic Assistant Toni McDonnell has celebrated her 20th anniversary working at Gonville & Caius College.

Always smiling, Toni reflected on two decades of camaraderie, friendship and memories with her colleagues and College members since beginning her role in 2003.

“Everyone here is very friendly to work with,” she says.

“I love the students. It’s like a big family.”

Toni moved to St Ives, north of Cambridge, from the Cebu province in the Philippines in 1987, after meeting her husband. 

She initially worked in housekeeping for hotels, including 13 years at the Regency Guest House. She says she became Caius’ first Filipina staff member when she took up her post at the College.

Toni says she is particularly grateful to Head Housekeeper Karen Heslop, the Master, Professor Pippa Rogerson, and the Fellows, and the Head of Human Resources, Charlotte Hasler, for their support during her time with the College.
