Postdoctoral Research Associateships (PDRA)

Gonville and Caius College wishes to appoint a number of Postdoctoral Research Associates (PDRAs) to join the College community from 1 October 2024. This scheme started in October 2023, and offers early-career researchers the opportunity to share in a community that spans many disciplines. This year we hope to increase the current PDRA cohort of 8 to approximately 12 individuals.

Eligibility

Applicants must have, or be in possession of an offer of, a full-time Post-Doctoral Research appointment in the University of Cambridge or a partner institute, and to have been awarded their PhD no more than five years before taking up a PDRA at the College. Allowance will be made for career breaks or periods of less than full-time equivalent working. We welcome applications from individuals working in any academic discipline.

Details

Postdoctoral Research Associateships are tenable for two years OR the duration of a candidate’s Post-Doctoral Research contract in the University or partner institute, whichever finishes sooner. If a Post-Doctoral Research contract extends beyond two years, a one-year extension to the PDRA may be considered.

PDRAs are members of the Senior Combination Room and it is expected that they contribute to the academic and social life of the College. They may take four free meals a week (either lunch or dinner) and may attend the termly Domestic Evenings; they are also invited to one College feast each year. PDRAs have access to a shared day room in College. Undergraduate teaching is not a requirement but teaching opportunities may become available.

PDRAs do not receive a stipend, research allowance, or College residential accommodation.
