The Caius Fund 2023 Campaign

The Caius Fund 2023 Campaign: 13 - 24 September 2023

From 13-24 September 2023, current students will be calling Caians and friends of the College around the world as part of the Caius Fund 2023 Telephone Campaign. We hope that Caians will use this opportunity to find out more about ongoing projects at Caius, compare memories of the College with the current generation and make meaningful connections with the student callers.

This year we are excited to be focusing our efforts on raising money for all aspects of student support. The rising cost of living is having a considerable impact on our students; rent payments are increasing, along with prices of food, travel, academic costs and expenses associated with sport and other co-curricular activities. For many, this can mean making sacrifices that affect their studies, social life and mental health. All donations made to the Caius Fund this September will go directly towards alleviating financial struggle for students. Your gift can ensure that:

  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to the same opportunities as their more affluent peers. Caius Bursaries provide this integral support to an increasing number of undergraduates. Student bursaries are means tested up to £4,500 per student per year; this year, we awarded £401,637. Without this support, many talented young people would otherwise be unable to afford the costs associated with higher education.

  • Students struggling to meet the increased costs of accommodation can also be awarded ‘rent bursaries’, means tested up to £120 per term. This makes an invaluable difference to the quality of life to students who cannot rely on parental support.

  • We can increase the number of sports grants awarded each year, which help students to pursue sport to high levels alongside their studies. Sport and physical activity make a tremendous difference to students’ mental health, social life, and wellbeing while at Cambridge; cost of involvement should not be a barrier.

  • We can continue to expand our mental health and wellbeing programme in College to meet rising demand for stress-relieving activities, counselling and physiotherapy. These appointments are in high-demand and always full-booked. With more funding, we will be able to offer greater availability of these provisions.

  • We can attract the most talented post-graduate researchers by offering more scholarships. The Tammy Chen Graduate Bursary provides much needed financial support to gifted post-graduate students.

Without your generous contributions to the Caius Fund, we would be unable to support our students through various hardships. You can ensure that every Caian has full access to all that Cambridge has to offer and encourage them to make the most of their Cambridge experience. Our campaigns are your chance to be better informed of current priorities and get involved to help make a difference. If you would like to give to any of these campaigns but do not wish to be contacted by phone, you can donate here.
