Gonville & Caius College Acting Dean The Revd Dr Megan Daffern has been named as Canon Chancellor of Wells Cathedral in Somerset.

Megan is Director of Studies in Theology, Religion & Philosophy of Religion at Caius College, where she is deputising for The Revd Dr Cally Hammond, who is on a 12-month sabbatical.

Her appointment as Canon Chancellor of Wells Cathedral was announced on Sunday by The Bishop of Bath and Wells and Chapter of Wells Cathedral. The Master, Professor Pippa Rogerson, extended her warm congratulations to Megan on behalf of Caius.

Megan will lead the development of Wells Cathedral as a place of learning and theological exploration, a centre of creativity, and a cultural hub. She will build the sense of community through internal and external relationships and collaborations.

On her time at Caius, Megan says: “I am thoroughly enjoying being at Caius. I have loved meeting people, spending time with people and exploring the Cambridge way of doing things.

“I am so glad to have had the gift of this year to enjoy.”

Megan is to complete her one-year post, with Cally returning in Michaelmas Term.
