Set in the attractive gardens of Harvey Court on West Road, our newest event space, Acropolis at Caius, has officially opened.

Guests at today’s open event had the chance to look around the impressive venue, named for its architectural shape and the multiple glass sides around its linked hexagonal structures, which provide views into the gardens, mirroring the open aspect of the ancient citadel located above the city of Athens.

The College has welcomed the arrival of the unique venue. It complements other event spaces at the West Road site: the Cavonius Centre, Harvey Court JCR and Harvey Court Dining Room, which are in addition to 170 ensuite guest bedrooms available during vacation periods.

Acropolis At Caius, which extends to 2,150 sq ft, is available until September 2020 whilst some of the College’s kitchen and dining facilities around the Old Courts Main Hall undergo a major refurbishment programme. It accommodates 140 seated on round tables for dinner, 91 cabaret style and 150 theatre style.

Eve Stupart, Conference Manager at Gonville & Caius said: “After many months of planning and anticipation, we are delighted that Acropolis At Caius is here and already attracting very positive feedback. Clients are choosing it for corporate dinners, lunches, team-building events and garden parties with the surrounding gardens providing a perfect backdrop for drinks receptions and outdoor events.”

“It’s an exciting and stylish alternative to other events spaces around the city and later in the year enables us to hold Christmas Parties – both private events and joiner party nights – in this atmospheric environment.”
