Around 600 pupils from state schools in Caius’s link areas attended the College’s first ever link area open days last month, to hear about life at the University of Cambridge and at Caius.

Approximately 200 Year 12 students learned about life at Cambridge on February 18, via Zoom, featuring advice on admissions, a virtual tour, plus question and answer sessions on admissions and with current students, who also shared their day-in-the-life experience. There were also sessions with Directors of Studies and representatives from student societies.

Two days earlier 400 students from Years 9 and 10 enjoyed a similar experience, receiving a flavour of what it is like to study at Caius.

Caius Schools Liaison Officer Katy Lewis, who led the events, said: “We have been really pleased to be able to share what life is like at Cambridge and Caius with so many interested students.

“Although the pandemic has meant it is not possible for students to visit Caius for now, we have been impressed with the level of interest and we look forward to welcoming pupils to College once restrictions ease and access is permitted again.”

Caius Tutor for Admissions & Outreach, Dr Chris Scott, added: “It was fantastic to see so many students from our link areas at February’s open days. We look forward to continuing to build on our links in these areas, and to increasing the scope and number of outreach opportunities we offer within them.”
