Gonville & Caius College’s Aaliyah Razi (Medicine 2020) was honoured at last month’s international annual meeting of the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) for research conducted under the supervision of Fellow Professor Dino Giussani.

Aaliyah received an award for one of the top 10 scoring abstracts from 1200 submitted for the event, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 24-28, 2026.

Her work was entitled ‘miR-21-5p Rescues Peripheral Vascular Function in Embryos Exposed to Developmental Hypoxia’. She gave a talk, received a certificate and a US$ 500 award.

The prize was the result of her research in the Giussani Lab. Professor Giussani is a Director of Studies at Caius and Professor of Developmental Cardiovascular Physiology & Medicine at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Physiology Development & Neuroscience.

Aaliyah says: “As a student, it was a great opportunity to present research we had worked so hard on. I really enjoyed discussing the project with attendees afterwards, and it was rewarding to see how widely the work resonated. I'm very grateful to the Giussani Lab for all their support.”
