Professor Dino Giussani, a Director of Studies in Medicine at Caius, has been awarded an honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in recognition of the contribution of his research to the wellbeing of women.
The prestigious Fellowships ad eundem are awarded by the RCOG to acknowledge the work of individuals who are not Members or Fellows of the Royal College but who have demonstrated, through research or clinical commitment, major contributions to obstetrics, gynaecology or reproductive health. Recipients must have contributed to the advancement of the science or practice of obstetrics and gynaecology in a substantial way and are of an extremely high scientific calibre.
Prof Giussani is Professor of Developmental Cardiovascular Physiology & Medicine in the Department of Physiology Development & Neuroscience at Cambridge. He said: "This is a great honour. However, the work I do, as usual, represents the integration and effort of a large team of incredibly gifted post-doctoral fellows, PhD students and research technicians. I am absolutely delighted with the recognition of our science and of its translational impact to improve the health and wellbeing of pregnant women and their unborn children."
He will formally receive his Fellowship at a ceremony in September 2017.
