Thank you to the students, staff and Fellows of Gonville & Caius College for the collaborative work which earned the Platinum prize for the 2022-23 Green Impact year.
It is the second successive year Caius has received the top award in the University of Cambridge’s environmental accreditation scheme. The initiative is in place to help all departments and colleges across the University be more environmentally friendly through everyday actions.
Caius was awarded gold in 2020-21 in the College’s first participation in the scheme, earned the top prize in 2021-22 and has retained the platinum status.
Particular thanks at Caius go to GCSU co-opt Katie Duthie (History 2022) for all of her work on the Green Impact accreditation. Thank you also to her predecessor as Green co-opt Clarissa Salmon (English 2020).
“Caius has been working really hard to become more sustainable, and winning the Platinum level for the award two years in a row really shows this,” Katie said.
“I am looking forward to seeing this amazing work continue in the years to come. I’d like to thank all of the staff that helped gather the information needed for the audit, and also the student body for being passionate about the ‘green’ changes we have been making across the College.”
