​On Thursday 22 September 2016, Gonville & Caius will host its second Women in Economics day - a focus for debate, discussion and information intended to inspire young women aged 16-18 to consider studying Economics at degree level and pursuing the subject in their careers.

The event follows last year's highly successful inaugural Women in Economics day at Caius - the first of its kind to address the gender gap in economics. This year we focus on - what else? - how Britain's economic future will take shape post-Brexit. There has never been a more exciting time to be involved in economics: come and join the debate! Dr Victoria Bateman - Cambridge Economist and feminist; Director of Studies in Economics at Caiu​s

Stephen Clarke, Research and Policy Analyst, Resolution Foundation

Dr Meredith Crowley, Economist and Fellow of St Johns College, Cambridge. Formerly at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago 

Dr Roberta Guerrina, European Policy Expert and Head of Politics, University of Surrey

Harriet Maltby, Head of Policy Research, Legatum Institute

Participants will also have the chance to hear from current and former Cambridge Economics students on why they chose to study this topic and the various career options it has opened up to them. There will be plenty of time to ask questions of all speakers.

This one-day event is open to all female students (whether or not they are studying economics at A-level), and will consider the economy past, present and future. The UK's Referendum vote to leave the European Vote has sent shockwaves through not only the UK but the globe - what will its implications be? With little clear detail on the mechanics of Brexit yet on the table, what advice to our speakers - and our student guests - have for the politicians who must steer us through this enormous change?

Participation in the Caius Women in Economics Day is open to all female students aged 16-18. Economics GCSE or A-level is not required. Numbers are limited so please register as soon as possible by completing a booking form. The event will take place at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge on 22 September 2016 from 10.30am - 5pm. Lunch will be provided in our College Hall and teachers are welcome.
