The Revd John Isaacs, Dean’s Vicar first to former Dean of Caius Jack Macdonald and then to the present Dean, has died peacefully after a time of illness. His funeral will take place at Ely Cathedral at 3pm on Monday 2 October and all are welcome.

John was a lover of music, a lute-maker as well as a teacher of clarinet, flute and recorder. After a time as a school chaplain he spent nine years as the parish priest of Denver, a Caius living, before taking on the role of Dean’s Vicar after William Frend. His ministry, always a partnership with his wife Philly-Jane, was much valued by the chapel-goers of Caius. He will be remembered in prayer at the service for All Souls on 2 November at 6pm.
