Around 23 Caians, all exceptional in sports from rugby, rowing and netball, to skiing, sailing and judo, were celebrated at a Blues dinner hosted by the Master Dr Pippa Rogerson on Friday 3 May.

Blues are a prestigious recognition of talent and success, and students at the University of Cambridge are awarded a Full Blue or a Half Blue depending on their sport.

The dinner, now in its third year at Caius, highlights the considerable sporting success that Caius is home to, with numerous students competing at university level and some even nationally or internationally. Among the students was Alex Schlindwein, a Full Blue in Fencing, Varsity-winning captain 2017/18, and BUCS individual (2015) and team champion (2015 and 2016). Alex, who kindly helped organise the event this year said, “It was great to see so many students doing such a wide variety of university-level sport, and with great success not only in Varsity but also nationally. Hopefully we can see this tradition continue and expand, celebrating Caius sporting success for many years to come."

The Master was delighted to host the dinner, commenting, “All kinds of students’ successes are celebrated at Caius. Our students are remarkable in performing well academically and also in other areas such as sport.”
