We are very excited to share details of our new ‘Caius Schools’ YouTube channel, a new sibling page to the existing Gonville & Caius channel, which is dedicated to outreach.

Run by our Admissions and Outreach team, the new channel will be providing a range of content across three levels: advice and guidance about the application process to Caius and Cambridge, along with information about financial support and other provision offered by the University; interaction with current students, including videos about what it’s like to study at Caius and to be a student here from a background with less history of progression to higher education and Cambridge; sample lectures from Caius Fellows and graduate students, along with information about individual courses, and what it’s like to study a subject at Caius in particular.

At the heart of the channel is a desire for it to be a community in which prospective applicants feel able to ask questions and to request videos on topics they would like to see.

Dr Chris Scott, our Tutor for Admissions and Outreach said, “We hope that this new outreach resource will be useful to prospective applicants, not just in the year or two prior to making a university application, but in the years before as well.

“We wanted to create a dedicated channel for outreach for three main reasons: to ensure no dilution of content through mixture with videos aimed at current students and alumni; to demonstrate the seriousness with which we take our commitment to outreach and widening participation; and to provide prospective applicants with a more relaxed and unintimidating online resource and community within which they can ask questions about life at Caius, and make suggestions with regard to the content they would like to see.

“Of course, there are many aspects of the channel which will be of interest to all, not just to prospective applicants: we expect that many of our existing subscribers to the Gonville & Caius channel (which will continue to provide exciting content) will want to subscribe to Caius Schools too. To do that, it’s as simple as heading on over to Caius Schools and clicking the ‘subscribe’ button.”
