Caius’ novice rowers have put their rowing skills to the test at Queens’ Ergs – the annual indoor rowing race in Cambridge in which Colleges go head to head in the battle to find the ultimate novice crew.

Our Caius women started strong and managed to break away from the others, chasing Emmanuel College for the majority of the nail-biting race. With a final push in the last 500m they were able to snatch the lead and row to victory.

Women’s Lower Boat Captain, Grace Carson commented: ‘Our crews were absolutely over the moon with the results. Special congratulations to Emma Wagner who won the prize for the fastest female novice in the competition. All of the girls in the NW1 and NW2 crews raced really well giving us a taste of what’s to come over the course of the rest of the novice races this Michaelmas Term.’

The Caius Men also had something to celebrate on Sunday night; their NM1 crew came second in the men’s final.

Congratulations to Caius Boat Club.
