Melissa Wilson (2011) will represent Great Britain in the women’s quadruple sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria. Singled out as the “most important regatta of the year” by Brendan Purcell, British Rowing Director of Performance, the competition takes place in Plovdiv from 9-16 September. At last year’s Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, Melissa and fellow Cambridge alumna Holly Hill finished fourth in the women’s pair.

Melissa will join 65 other British athletes in Bulgaria. The selection caps off a successful summer for the English Literature graduate: earlier this month she placed fourth as part of Team GB in the European Rowing Championships in Glasgow. Melissa learnt to row at Caius, competing in an impressive total of three Boat Races during her time at the College.
