Junior Sous Chef

The Role

We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef to support us in our delivery of dining vision at the College.  Responsible to the Head Chef, the post holder will manage one of two teams of chefs producing food across the college throughout the year. We provide food for students, staff and Fellows, including the Masters Lodge.  The service includes the provision of both regular meals, and special internal functions, including for conference delegates.

The role will support the Head Chef and the Senior Sous Chefs in all aspects of food preparation to the highest possible standards. You will take pride in customer satisfaction and seek to instil creativity into your team on a daily basis, whilst managing menu planning, health and safety checks and appropriate food ordering, amongst other responsibilities.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week. The ability and willingness to adopt a flexible approach to working hours is expected, and you may be required to work additional hours from time to time in order to fulfil the requirements of the role and the needs of the College. The salary for the full time position is £26,484 - £27,009 per annum. The College

Gonville and Caius College is one of the largest colleges in the University of Cambridge. It is an educational charity and its mission is to provide a place of education, religion, learning and research, in conjunction with the University that is recognised internationally as being of the highest standard.

The College is an academic community comprising some 530 undergraduate students, 250 graduate students, and 110 Fellows (lecturers, professors and other senior academic researchers and teachers) and almost 200 staff. It plays a significant role throughout the University. Our students come from all over the world and our undergraduates study all the subjects offered in the University. Our postgraduates play a vital role in the research activities of the wider University. Our Fellows have globally renowned research expertise ranging from Ancient History to Cosmology and are all recognised as leaders in their fields.
