Demi Pastry Chef

The Role

Applications are invited for a Demi Pastry Chef at Gonville & Caius College.

The role of the Demi Pastry Chef will work under another chef and be responsible for producing food for all College outlets, including Masters Lodge, Fellows and Special Functions Junior Members and Harvey Court.

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of classic and modern pastry within a professional kitchen, and will join an experienced team which prepares and produces food for buffets and high profile banquets.

They will be responsible for the production high standards of pastry and be able to develop seasonal menus for all the above primary responsibilities, this will include menu input.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week worked 5 out of 7 days depending on business. The ability and willingness to adopt a flexible approach to working hours is expected, and you may be required to work additional hours from time to time in order to fulfil the requirements of the role and the needs of the College.

The salary for the full time position is around £22,500 per annum, depending on proven ability.

The College

Gonville and Caius College is one of the largest colleges in the University of Cambridge. It is an educational charity and its mission is to provide a place of education, religion, learning and research, in conjunction with the University that is recognised internationally as being of the highest standard.

The College is an academic community comprising some 530 undergraduate students, 250 graduate students, and 110 Fellows (lecturers, professors and other senior academic researchers and teachers) and almost 200 staff. It plays a significant role throughout the University. Our students come from all over the world and our undergraduates study all the subjects offered in the University. Our postgraduates play a vital role in the research activities of the wider University.
