E.11.5. The doctrine of baptisms (1698)

Tace Sowle was born into the book trade; with both parents working as printers she was brought up to be involved not only in printing but also composition and bookselling. Taking over the business upon her father’s retirement she became a prominent publisher of Quaker works, and her sister Elizabeth married William Bradford who became the first Quaker printer in America. When she died at 84 Tace had become the oldest printer in London. A booksellers list of her other titles is appended to the end of this work, the majority of her 437 known titles are preserved in The Library of the Religious Society of Friends.
