The Stephen Hawking Circle

In July 2007, the College Council set a further level of recognition for those making total lifetime gifts of £50,000 and above: the Stephen Hawking Circle.

New Members of the Circle and their partners were invited to attend a private lecture given by Stephen Hawking (1965) on his work. The lecture was followed by a dinner with Professor Hawking, hosted by the Master, in the panelled Combination Room.

The first Celebration of the Stephen Hawking Circle took place on Friday 15 February 2008 in the beautiful Panelled Combination Room. In order to make this a very special experience, and to enable all our guests to meet Professor Hawking, numbers were limited to no more than 12 Benefactors and their guests. This annual event became a highlight of the Caius calendar.

Following Professor Hawking's death in 2018 the College is reviewing the format of these dinners but will continue to host special events for members of the Stephen Hawking Circle.
