Roger Carpenter Fund
The Roger Carpenter Biomedical Students Research Fund
The College plans to hold a memorial service for Roger Carpenter at 11.00am on Saturday, 30 June, 2018. After the service, light refreshments will be served in the Fellows’ Combination Rooms. We have chosen this date in part because it is also the date of the annual meeting of the Caius Medical Association, and we know that many of Roger’s former colleagues and students will wish to be present. If you plan to attend the memorial service, we would be grateful if you could notify the Development Office [firstname.lastname@example.org] so that we have an indication of numbers.
The College wishes to establish a substantial endowment fund which recognises the contribution made by Professor Roger Carpenter to the teaching of medical students at Caius over the last 40 years and his intense interest in medical education and research training.
The Roger Carpenter Fund has the following aims:
To support research undertaken by Caius students in the general area of medical science including electives, internships, short-term research projects, MB PhD or PhD studentships or other activities associated with research. A principal objective is to support PhD students as a preparation for a career in medical research.
An award from this research Fund would be named the Roger Carpenter Prize Bursary or Studentship, and would be awarded principally to the most outstanding Caius medical students at any stage of their studies, though students reading associated subjects would not be excluded if funds permitted.
Donations are invited from Caius medical alumni, particularly those supervised by Professor Carpenter over the years.
