Student Life
Cambridge is a very busy place for all its undergraduate and graduate students. Work is demanding, and there's plenty of it, and on top of that there are many opportunities to get involved in any number of other activities. Whatever your interests, whether sport, music, drama, politics, community action or journalism, there will be many opportunities to make the most of your time in Cambridge. If what you want to do is sit and read books, the libraries and the spaces will make this the perfect place to do so.
Because life can be very busy, the community of Caius and the wider University can offer much needed support to our students. The fact that we offer accommodation to all undergraduate students for the whole of their course, and to graduate students for up to three years, takes away one big worry. And then there's the tutorial system. All undergraduate and graduate students at Caius have a College Tutor, a senior academic who is not in their own subject and who is responsible for matters of welfare (including finance). Tutors have a lot of experience of working with students and can usually find a way through most problems that arise.
Caius is a large and diverse College and so its community cannot be characterised easily. Perhaps the best thing to say is that the College is big enough, and academically varied enough, that everyone can find plenty of people with whom they have interests and approaches in common, but small enough that it really does function meaningfully as a community of enthusiastic scholars. We encourage our students to dine together regularly in the College Hall, offer a large number of academic and non-academic societies, and support our students in their ambitions and activities across all areas of University life.
