Prospective Students
Cambridge is a collegiate university, which means that all undergraduate and graduate students are members of both a College and of the University. This dual membership of a smaller academic and social community within the larger community of the University makes Cambridge a very special place to study. Applying to study at Cambridge and Caius is very straightforward. The procedures are different for undergraduate and graduate applicants - please follow the appropriate links to find out more.
Caius is one of the 31 Colleges which make up the University of Cambridge. The Colleges all have their own distinctive histories and their own distinguishing features, but they all have the same goal: excellence in teaching and research. Twenty-nine of these Colleges admit undergraduate students and all admit postgraduate students. We seek to recruit students of very high ability and potential who will bring enthusiasm and commitment to their studies. Caius admits about 160 undergraduates and 70 graduates each year which makes us one of the largest Colleges in Cambridge. We also have some 110 senior academic staff with teaching and research responsibilities so we are able to give each of our students a lot of personal attention. We take great pride in our outstanding record in education and research and we believe that the academic opportunities we offer our students, both undergraduate and graduate, are truly world-class. We admit students in every subject offered by the University.
A brief history of the University of Cambridge is available here. Interactive tours of the University city and podcasts about Cambridge life are available here. More information about Caius, its history, and its place in the modern University, is available here. The Caius Student Union has its own website which contains lots of useful information for current and prospective students - it can be viewed here. You can read our student-produced Alternative Prospectus here.
