Cambridge has one of the most extensive bursary schemes available at any UK university, both for home and overseas students. We are committed to the principle that no UK student should be prevented from studying here for financial reasons. In addition, Caius has many support schemes which help our students with their day-to-day finances.

Whichever university you choose, there are two costs that you'll need to consider - the cost of your tuition and your living costs. Studying at Cambridge and Caius is an extremely cost-effective option.

Firstly, you need to consider tuition fees. As is well known, due to changes in the funding of English universities, tuition fees for 2012 entry onwards will be higher than has been the case hitherto. Cambridge, together with almost all other academically selective universities, will charge a standard fee of £9000 per year for all courses for UK and EU students. Given that this fee is all but standard across the selective end of the sector, and Cambridge offers a superlative undergraduate education and experience, we represent incredibly good value for money. It's very important to note that no UK or EU student will br required to pay undergraduate fees upfront, and that a very favourable loan scheme is in place which defers all payments until after you have got a job with a decent salary. In addition, through the National Scholarship Programme, English and EU students from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds are eligible to receive a £6,000 fee waiver in their first year. More details about tuition fees for UK and EU students are available here. For students applying from outside the EU arrangements are different. Full details of international fees and bursaries can be found here.

Secondly, you need to consider living expenses. Obviously your personal costs will depend on your lifestyle, but Cambridge need not be an expensive choice. The provision of reasonably-priced, high-quality, accommodation to all our undergraduates throughout their courses, together with excellent dining and social facilities within Caius and the wider University, mean that you really can keep costs down. Add to that the world-class libraries, IT facilities and support for student research and you're very unlikely to incur much additional expense in the course of your day-to-day studies. We estimate that most students spend £6,000 - £7,500 on their living expenses and social life each year.

Cambridge has a very generous and very straightforward bursary scheme. We offer an unlimited number of bursaries to ensure that students can meet the cost of their Cambridge education, regardless of background. Full information about the Cambridge Bursary Scheme for UK and EU students is available here. Details of our bursaries to support students from outside the EU are available here.

Hardship support is also available for students facing unforeseen financial difficulties. Once students are admitted, we ensure that they are given the academic, personal and financial support necessary for successful completion of their course at Cambridge.
