Research interests
A Broad interest in the economic history of all time periods and places, with current work focussing on the development of the European economy from early-modern times to the present. The questions motivating this research include: How did we become a rich modern economy? Why are poor countries still poor? What lessons can be drawn from history for current day economic policy?
