Nineteenth- and early twentieth-century French literature and cultural history, especially sexuality and the family; publications include articles on Zola, Maupassant, Balzac, and nineteenth-century French women’s writing, and a monograph: Inheritance in Nineteenth-Century French Culture: Wealth, Knowledge and the Family (Legenda, 2010)
