The Chapel exists for the glory of God and to be the focus of the Christian faith in Caius. As a Church of England foundation, the Chapel aims to be open and available to all members of the College, whether or not they have a religious faith, and to present Christianity intelligently and responsibly to them.

The Chapel is a house of prayer where all are welcome. It is always open during the daytime and evening. There are ten services a week in term time, three of which are enriched by our renowned College Choir. The College Dean, the Revd Dr Cally Hammond, normally officiates at services but the College welcomes several visiting preachers per term.

Common Worship and the Book of Common Prayer 1662 (& 1928) are the forms of service used. Requests for prayer may be made directly to the Dean; or written in the intercessions book in the Dean’s stall at the East (altar) end of the Chapel. All who customarily receive the sacrament are welcome to receive it here, whether Anglican or not. Anyone who does not wish to take communion can come to the altar for a blessing. Members of College customarily wear gowns or surplices at evening services. Full details of services, including the music and the charities supported by the collection, are available in the Chapel or on the notice-board outside.

Sunday Eucharist is followed by a free brunch for those who attend in the College Hall. Sunday Evensong is followed by drinks in the White Room to which all are welcome.

Music in Caius Chapel

The Chapel's worship is sustained and enriched by the strong musical tradition in the College. The College Choir is a choir of Choral Exhibitioners directed by the Precentor, Dr Geoffrey Webber. The College Choir sings Evensong on Sundays and Tuesdays and Communion on Thursdays, as well as performing other services, broadcasts and recordings. The Voluntary Choir sings at Communion on Sunday mornings and is directed by the Organ Scholars, who warmly welcome new recruits.

Chapel music lists can be found here.
